Interpreter Training and Assessment

Interpreters should be trained. There is no substitution.
Interpreters should be trained. There is no substitution.

Ever wonder if your bilingual employee interprets everything you say?

Are your in-house interpreters trained to avoid conflicts of interest and on the standards on how to treat Patient Health Information?

Does your healthcare organization follow the recommendations set forth by the Joint Commission on Accrediting Healthcare Organizations' (JCAHCO) on usage of trained or competent interpreters?

Interpreter Training

Competency in interpreter skills and practice defines the interpreter just as competency in medical study and practice defines the clinician.

At OCI, interpreter training is at the very center of our company. As facilitators in the understanding of communication, we will assist you with providing meaningful language assistance. This is reflective in our own training of all OCI interpreters through the nation's leading medical interpreter training programs, partnerships with medical interpreter associations and accredited institutions continuously promoting professional development in interpreting skills as well as industry terms and practices. Language and Interpreter Skills Assessments

We can help you assess interpreting and language skills through our assessment programs. This is an invaluable tool to screen in-house interpreters as well as assist in the recruitment of potential candidates.

The Language Assessment Test and the Interpreter Assessment Test evaluates the candidate's proficiency in the English and target language(s) as well as evaluate the candidate's understanding of the role of the interpreter.

OCI tests are not a "pass or fail" evaluation. Similar to many of the certified language assessments used in the U.S., our tests evaluate proficiency/knowledge and assigns competency levels to the result. Once the results of the tests are complete, we will forward the results with our recommendations.
